Mini Reviews - Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs

When Flint Lockwood's (Bill Hader) latest contraption accidentally destroys the town square and rockets up into the clouds, he thinks his inventing career is over. Then something amazing happens as delicious cheeseburgers start raining from the sky.

I really have been taken by a surprise. Adapted from (yet another) short children's book, it could have been a passable, if not, dumb average animated film. But when you add clever wacky humor and writing, Buster-Keaton style action sequences, simple yet meaningful story and great performances from the five of the MOST AWESOME guys evar (Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell, Mr. T and Neil Patrick Harris - I mean these guys are FREAKIN AWESOME), then you have a "recipe" for something very special. The film is a very fun, enjoyable and wild ride and you will have a blast watching this film. The animation is its own style, going for that stretchy cartoon-like and the music are solid. It may be in the shadows of anything Pixar, but this film is unique enough to be something memorable and endearing.

4 out of 5 stars
